Mom’s Survival Guide when you take 3 kids to Cebu Ocean Park and How to Skip the Line (Plus a Klook Discount!)
If you’re looking for the best things to do in Cebu with kids, you’ve probably seen Cebu Ocean Park at the top of every list... and for good reason!
Before we get into our family adventure, here’s a quick heads-up... if you stay until the end of this post, I’ll be sharing a special referral code that gives you ₱250 OFF your very first Klook booking. If you’re looking for a Cebu Ocean Park discount or a deal for your next family outing, you won't want to miss it!
The 4:00 AM Hustle (The "Why" Behind the Fun)
As a Virtual Assistant with multiple clients, my Saturdays are usually a mix of house chores and catching up on admin work... but the beauty of the VA lifestyle is the flexibility. Last February 28th, I decided on a whim that we needed one of those fun family activities in Cebu that the boys would remember.
Instead of waiting for a "leave approval" from my boss if I worked a corporate job, I woke up at 4:00 AM while the house was silent... I cleared my inbox, finished my client tasks, and by the time the sun was up, I was 100% present for my three boys: Zack age 12, Jet who is 7, and Diego a very spirited 4 year old who can’t keep still for more than 2 minutes. No boss to ask... no need for a leave approval… I can enjoy pure freedom with when to work and when to have family time.
Getting to One of the Top Cebu Tourist Spots for Family
We prepped our essentials... extra clothes and our water tumblers.
Pro-Tip for Parents: While most Cebu attractions for kids don't allow outside food, Cebu Ocean Park is totally fine with water tumblers! Bringing your own is a lifesaver to keep everyone hydrated without spending a fortune on plastic bottles inside.
If you’re bringing a car:
We left our house in Talisay City at 9:30 AM, and the drive through SRP was incredibly smooth. We arrived at the park by 10:12 AM... less than 45 minutes door-to-door with no traffic at all!
Parking Hack: Park in the basement (₱30 for the first 3 hours). To make this the best family weekend in Cebu, save your legs! Park at the far end of the lot... you’ll be much closer to the stairs that lead straight to the park entrance.
If you’re taking public transport (Commuter’s Guide):
Don't have a private car? No problem! Cebu Ocean Park is very accessible via public transport. Here are the best ways to get there:
The MyBus Service: This is probably the most comfortable way to travel. You can catch the MyBus from SM City Cebu or SM Seaside. It drops you off right at SM Seaside, and from there, it’s just a short walk or a very quick taxi ride to the park.
Grab or Taxi: If you’re traveling with kids and want zero stress, Grab is your best friend. Just pin "Cebu Ocean Park" and you're good to go. If you're taking a regular white taxi, most drivers know the way to SRP!
Beep / Modern Jeepneys: Look for modern jeepneys with routes passing through SRP (like the ones going to SM Seaside). Just tell the driver to drop you off at the intersection for Ocean Park.
How to Get a Cebu Ocean Park Discount with Klook
I am NOT a fan of long lines... especially with a 7-year-old and a 4-year-old in tow. If you're looking for a Cebu Ocean Park guide, the number one tip is: Book in advance.
I used the Klook app that morning and grabbed our tickets while the kids were getting dressed. Not only did I save money with a coupon code... but we walked right past the ticket booth queue and scanned our QR code at the gate. If you want a stress-free experience, Klook is the way to go.
The Experience: Sharks, Snakes, and Pre-teen "Cool"
Walking in, the dynamic was hilarious. Zack is officially a pre-teen, so he was trying his best to act "cool" and unimpressed... while Jet and Diego were easily the loudest kids in the building!
The Superstar: The Albino Burmese Python The big hit for Jet was the animal interaction station. They had a beautiful Albino Burmese Python out for guests to touch. Jet was brave enough to try and lift it... though the staff gently reminded him that only touching is allowed for safety! Diego and Zack watched from a safe distance with a mix of awe and "no thanks!"
The Bird Show & The "Double Fry" Mission The Bird Show is definitely one of the best family activities in Cebu. The birds fly right over your head! One great thing is that they allow you to eat snacks in the bleachers while you watch.
While we were watching, Jet and Diego got hungry... so I asked Zack... my growing "little man"... to go buy some fries. He happily obliged but came back with TWO huge bowls instead of one! LOL. That’s what happens when you send a hungry 12-year-old to buy food... he comes back with enough to feed a small army!
The "300 Peso" Miracle I usually try not to spend extra, but I decided to splurge ₱300 on a professional photo with the birds.

It’s a miracle to get three kids to look at a camera at the same time without someone moving. In the photo, Zack is holding a blue and yellow macaw, Jet has a white one, and Diego is in the middle looking very brave!
The Penguin Finale
You can’t visit this Cebu tourist spot for family without seeing the penguins! It was the first time my kids saw them in person. While there is a ₱700 fee for "Penguin Feeding," you can see them perfectly through the glass or while grabbing a snack at the Penguin Cafe.
Mom-Approved Amenities
As a mom, I loved the strategic sinks and soap stations right next to the animal touch areas. You don’t have to trek to the restroom to wash up after touching a sea creature or a snake... it’s right there! The restrooms were also super clean and well-maintained.
Was it Worth It?
As we headed to the gift shop for souvenirs, I realized... this is why I love the VA life. I didn't have to sacrifice my work to be a present mom, and I didn't have to sell a kidney to afford a great day out. If you're looking for where to go in Cebu with family, this is definitely a top contender.
